This 5 acre park, which is not reservable, has two barbeque pits, two basketball courts, a multipurpose field, several picnic tables, a playground with equipment for both toddlers and older children, and two tennis courts. The park also has a small shelter, which includes public restrooms and a covered area that can serve as a stage, a play area, or a gathering place. The southeast corner of the park features Ramsey Pool, a favorite spot for cooling down and socializing during the summer.

The Rosedale Neighborhood Association (RNA) regards Ramsey Park as a key feature of the neighborhood and thus fosters on-going attention to the features of the park in order to ensure it serves present and future residents well. In 2004, an Eagle Boy Scout project introduced landscaping, benches, and picnic tables in the area around the pool, both inside of and outside of the pool's enclosing fence. More recently, Rosedale residents collaborated with TreeFolks and the City of Austin to plant about two dozen new trees throughout Ramsey Park.

The profile page of Ramsey Park by the City of Austin provides additional information.

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatics Division annual schedule includes Ramsey Pool schedule.

Sidewalk Fundraising Drive

In a recent neighborhood survey, Rosedale residents indicated strongly that they wanted more sidewalks where possible. Currently people who walk or jog the perimeter of the park must either traverse uneven and sometimes muddy ground or use the street for about half of the distance. The Rosedale Neighborhood Association (RNA) is very pleased to announce this chance to help complete the circuit of sidewalks around Ramsey Park. During 2008, the Rosedale Neighborhood Association (RNA) received an Austin City Limits Music Festival Grant through the Austin Parks Foundation (APF) to complete the sidewalk around Ramsey Park. The assistance and support we received from the City of Austin Public Works Department was a key factor in the RNA's successful application for this grant.

Rosedale needs your help! A second factor in the successful quest for this grant was the RNA's commitment to contribute a portion of the total cost of the project. This is required for all grants awarded by the APF. This is where the RNA needs help! The RNA is seeking contributions, which will be tax-deductible donations. To make an online donation to support this effort, please click on the button below. [This is a PayPal transaction, with the funds submitted directly to APF for deposit in the Ramsey Park Sidewalk Project account.]

To make your donation by check, you may mail a donation to the Austin Parks Foundation, 701 Brazos, Ste 170, Austin, TX 78701. All checks should be made out to the Austin Parks Foundation and please be sure to write "Ramsey Park Sidewalk" on the memo line. The APF will deposit all funds in a special account set up for this project.

Tree Planting, December 1, 2007

Tree Lovers Unite! On Saturday, December 1, 2007, starting at 9am, Rosedale residents labored alongside workers from the City of Austin Forestry Department and representatives of TreeFolks to plant about 25 young trees in Ramsey Park. TreeFolks, a local organization, arranged the planting as part of their CityShade program. The Rosedale Neighborhood Association (RNA) recruited neighborhood volunteers to help with this effort. City workers dug the holes, with volunteers positioning the trees and filling in the dirt. This was an excellent opportunity for Rosedale residents to become actively involved in beautifying the park and adding shade trees for summers to come. This volunteer effort also demonstrated for the City how important Ramsey Park is to neighborhood residents. The City of Austin workers and Treefolks were impressed by the great volunteer spirit they saw during the planting process. There were over 40 adults and many children, who helped with the digging and planting. The task was completed in record time.
